Decor and furnishings
When guest tell you how much they enjoyed staying at your holiday cottage, they will almost certainly be making comments about your decor, furnishings and facilities. When you get this right it will make a big impact on your guests experience, and will be a major factor in getting repeat bookings.
The way you furnish and decorate your holiday property will depend largely on your target market. However, as a general guideline, when it comes to decoration and purchasing fittings, furnishings and appliances, go for quality.
Don’t be tempted to go for the cheapest as this will result in unhappy guests when things start to break down and look shabby, and will mean that you need to purchase replacements sooner rather than later.
A nicely decorated property will encourage your guests to look after it. If you can, you should also opt for easy to clean finishes such as washable paints, and hard floors. Because it is easy to clean you will save on your cleaning/changeover costs and will make it easier for guests to clean up any spillages or marks. Guests will generally clean up if this is easy to do.
Probably the most important thing to remember is that if your guests really appreciate the decor, furnishings and facilities of your cottage then you increase the chance that they will return to visit you again. There is no clearer sign that you are getting things right than to have repeat bookings!
