Editable Websites
When you choose a HowToHolidayCottage website, you can choose whether you want it to be an editable or a non-editable website.
What do you mean by 'an editable' website?
Even if you buy a non-editable website you will still be able to update the availability and prices yourself.
In addition to this, if you buy an editable website you can make changes to the text and images too. With a few simple steps you can change the text, add or delete text. You can also delete, replace or upload new images, although you will need to be able to prepare the images yourself so that they are suitable for the web.
In a non-editable website, you can ask us to make any changes for you.
How do I make the changes to my website?
You make the changes using Adobe's InContext Editing tool. This does not require you to buy or load any software. The tool is automatically loaded online when you choose to edit your website. No special knowledge is required, and it is very easy to use.
We will explain to you how to use it and be here to help you if you need further explanation.
Do I need to use my own computer to edit my website?
No, you can update your website from any computer that has Internet access. You don't have to do it from your own computer. In other words, if you can access your website, then you can edit it
Will I pay more for an editable version?
We charge a bit more for editable websites but you will be able to make updates for free. You will pay less for a non-editable website, but we will ask you to pay for updates to these websites. See our page on website costs for more details.
Could I damage the look of the website?
Hopefully not! We have designed the editable websites so that any changes you make uses formatting styles that are used within the website already. This way, any changes should still look good within the website.
We have also limited the editable areas to those areas we think that you would want to edit. For example, you can make changes to pages such as the home page, the accommodation page and the booking process pages and many more, but we have not allowed changes to pages such as the 'sitemap' page as this is something you should not change.
